The rebuild of part of I-275 in Wayne and Oakland counties is a massive road project that will cause closures and congestion for months on one of metro Detroit’s busiest arteries.

Now M-DOT is holding a town hall packed with residents concerned about how the project will affect their daily life.

It was standing room only as folks wanted to know how long this project would take and how long their route to work or home will be impacted.

It is a 13-mile reconstruction project, from north of 5 Mile Road to the I-96/696/M-5 interchange.

Southbound I-275 will close in early May through July. Once that’s reopened northbound will close through September.

Novi, Farmington Hills and Livonia are all cities that will be impacted by the $75 million project.

M-DOT says those that didn’t make the meeting can see all the plans at revive275.com.

Other closures are already in place, like the Seven Mile overpass, it is closed in one direction. The other direction will be closed later this week.
