Crews and residents are working to stay ahead of snowy conditions in Oakland County, where some of the hardest hit areas from this round of winter weather are located.

In Waterford, school is canceled for the first time this year.

Waterford resident, Vanessa Salazar and her kids, loaded up on supplies in preparation for a few days at home.  She bought milk, bread, ice melt, toilet paper and even games and movies.

"I'm not coming back out, we are done!” said Salazar.  "The roads are horrible, it took us 45 min to get here and we live on Telegraph and 59 so yeah, it's bad."

The Oakland County Roads Commission has 106 plows. All of them were out on the roads for most of Wednesday.

As of about 9:00 p.m. about half of the drivers will be on a break until about 2:00 a.m. Thursday morning.  Then the full force will be back out to stay ahead of the morning commute.
