Oakland County Sheriff's deputies are investigating after a student in Lyon Township texted a false threat to 911 saying someone had a gun.

According to the sheriff's office, the operation center received a 911 text that read, "some kid is harassing me please call back he has a gun," around 2:30 p.m. last Tuesday.

A dispatcher tried calling the student back several times to find the location and the school bus number, but the caller was "uncooperative." He then shut off his phone after texting, "Dude I'm fine calm down."

The dispatcher was able to identify the bus and location, and had the bus stop on a street where it was met by deputies. They searched the bus full of students, but didn't find any weapon.

A witness told deputies who made the text, and found out the person who sent the text was actually on another bus at the time.

Deputies found the 16-year-old and interviewed him where he admitted to sending the texts.

The Oakland County Prosecutor's Office is reviewing the case and could file charges.
