Metro Detroit man reportedly threw hot coals in girlfriend's face, police say

Oakland County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report where a woman, 34, said she was assaulted by her boyfriend in Pontiac in the first block of Rose Court.

The victim said her boyfriend, 35, threw hot coals in her face, and said she thought her boyfriend was going to come back and kill her. 

Upon arrival, police say there were several burns on her face, as well as signs of trauma. 

The victim told deputies that she and her boyfriend live together inside an RV trailer that is equipped with a wood burning stove.The victim told deputies when they arrived that her boyfriend was still inside the trailer.

Deputies observed a male running from the RV, but a K-9 unit tracked him to the basement of a residence on Harriet St.

The homeowner told deputies that his cousin was hiding in the basement, and the suspect was taken into custody.  

When paramedics were transporting the victim to Detroit Receiving Hospital, she became unresponsive and experienced trouble breathing, police say. She has since stabilized and is expected to survive.
