One city is giving you a way to keep solicitors at bay.
Novi has a “Do Not Knock Registry.” Under a city ordinance peddlers are required to be licensed and avoid knocking on the doors of houses on the registry.

The registry does not prevent people from knocking on doors for purposes other than sales, such as for political or religious speech.
