Where do you stand?

The proposed over-haul of Michigan’s No-Fault Auto Insurance is a hot topic on both sides of the issue. The opinions are plenty. Where do you stand?

Thirty-nine-year-old Erica Coulston is a Metro Detroiter who was involved in a car accident in 2001.

She woke up paralyzed from her injuries, a quadriplegic. Erica’s complete care and proud the clock, daily assistance is covered under Michigan’s No-Fault Auto Insurance.

Coulston has concerns about the bill being proposed in Lansing, giving people a choice when it comes to levels and costs of insurance coverage would be like being forced to choose to live and survive, versus thrive.

“I’ve seen how other people have to live, I’ve seen the choices they have to make and it’s unfortunate that the people that would make the choice that would impact them the most  are also the people that probably could afford it the least”, she says.

Coulston believes there are modifications that can be made to make the system run better, smoother, more efficiently and cost everybody less. Save more so that there’s more money in the claims association for people like her and those in the future that are injured. However, she says, slashing the system and making people chose and giving people the choice of minimal benefits is not the answer.
