Dog stolen from Kroger found safe

Posted

A Husky that was stolen from a Kroger parking lot has been found safe, Bloomfield Twp. police said early Wednesday.

Police said the dog, Kodi, was located at a home in Independence Twp. around 11 p.m. Tuesday and was not hurt.

Kodi has now been reunited with his owner, Chris Barrnett.

The Barnetts had been worried sick about 10-month-old Kodi, who went missing Monday night.

He was tied up to a pole outside of Kroger along Telegraph and Long Lake in Bloomfield when Chris made a quick stop inside.

It did not take long for someone to pull up in an SUV and put the puppy inside of his vehicle.

“I can’t imagine why someone would do this.  I can’t imagine why someone would think it’s alright,” said Chris’ wife Marilee. “It’s a member of our family.”

A witness spotted the thief taking off with the puppy.

Police said an anonymous tip led them to the Independence Twp. home.

It's not clear if anyone will be charged. Police plan to release more information later in the day.
