LODI TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — We have new information into a murder mystery playing out in Washtenaw County. It happened sometime between last Tuesday and Friday at a rural home on west Waters Road in Lodi Township.

The mother of 27-year old Kyle Luark came looking for him and called 911 to say she had been shot at.

It took investigators from the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office until Friday to find the victim’s body outside.

The owner of the property, 57-year old Kent Hyne is charged with Concealing a Death and Mutilation of a Body, but not the murder. He’s being held in the county jail on a $500,000 bond.

The Sheriff’s spokesman says Hyne is claiming self-defense, but would not explain the mutilation or any additional details.

Hyne ran a licensed medical marijuana operation at the location.

Anyone with information is being asked to call the Sheriff at 734-994-2911 or the confidential tip line at 734-973-7711.
