Wyandotte authorities say a man and two accomplices faked his kidnapping all to get thousands of dollars from both his girlfriend and mother.
Early on the morning of November 20, a woman says she was on the 2600 block of 21st Street in Wyandotte when an unknown female driving her boyfriend’s car pulled over and told her that she had kidnapped her boyfriend and to release him, she would have to pay up.
The victim hadn't seen her boyfriend in a couple of days. So, in fear, she agreed, driving to an ATM to withdraw $280.
The girlfriend, who hasn't been named by authorities, immediately contacted the boyfriend’s mother for help and the two decided to report it to police.
There, at the police station, the girlfriend began receiving text messages from the boyfriend’s cell phone with more threats along with pictures of Brown lying on the ground, injured.
The alleged kidnappers said they wanted $2000 or they would start pulling teeth.
The mother agreed to pay in exchange for her son, but hours later, Wyandotte investigators solved the case, ultimately tracking down Brown’s vehicle at an unknown home.
When they entered, they realized it was all a scam. There, they found Brown sleeping on the couch, while his alleged kidnappers Lindsay Johnson and Kenneth Pinoniemi were in the next room.
Plice also found evidence of crack cocaine in the house. They say the suspects told them that’s what they used the $280 dollars for.
The three suspects were arrested and charged with extortion. They are expected back in court on Thursday morning for a probable cause hearing.
If convicted, they are expected to face a sentence of probation up to 5 years behind bars.
