A man on Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette's team investigating the Flint water crisis has resigned amid allegations that he was driving drunk in Wayne County.

According to Schuette, Ellis Stafford submitted his resignation after the arrest Saturday night.

"I have accepted the resignation of Ellis Stafford. I thank him for his efforts on the Flint Water Investigation. Ellis and his family are in my thoughts and prayers at this challenging time," Schuette said in a statement.

According to the Detroit News, Stafford was arrested in front of a Target store in Canton.

So far, the investigation has resulted in eight state officials and one local Flint official facing charges that include misconduct, willful neglect of duty, tampering with evidence and more.
