Police in Highland Park are investigating an incident that left a 5-year-old girl with third degree burns.
That girl's parents, her grandmother, and an uncle are behind bars, while neighbors are left wondering why something like this had to happen to an innocent little girl.
It happened at a home on Puritan Friday.
The girl was badly burning, but according to police her parents didn’t call an ambulance until Sunday.

Highland Park police spokesperson Marli Blackmon says the little girl being burned may have been an accident, but deciding not to get her medical treatment was no accident.
Blackmon says it appears to be a clear case of neglect.
Neighbors can’t help but wonder why the girl’s parents didn’t call 911.
The five-year-old is listed in serious condition, as investigators get ready to send the case to the prosecutor.
