The suspect who was shot by a Michigan State Police trooper following a chase has died, 7 Action News has learned.
Police have identified him as Richard Parent, of Flat Rock.
According to police, the trooper pulled over Parent for a routine seat belt violation. Parent complained that he was a sovereign citizen, refused to comply and then took off.
The chase went through different neighborhoods and eventually turned into a foot chase before the suspect was shot in the side
During the incident, one trooper ended up with a broken thumb.
