Two students at Redford's Washington-Parks Academy were taken to the hospital for treatment after pepper spray was released inside the school.
The incident happened Tuesday afternoon.
Officials with Cornerstone Schools District say a 7th-grade girl brought the pepper spray to school from home.
The officials say she was huddled in a group of students, showing it to her friends when the spray was released.
EMS was called as a precautionary measure, and the two affected students were taken to the hospital.
The parents of the involved students have been notified. Officials say the mother of the girl who brought the pepper spray to school was aware she had it.
In their response, school officials say, "Cornerstone School's takes matters like this very serious and there will accountability held."
