Michigan State police say a 39-year-old woman was driving with four children in the car on Wednesday night when all of the sudden, someone started shooting.
According to Lt. Calvin Hart with Michigan State Police, she and her family were returning home from a local restaurant when she was shot.
It all started when she drove past three men near Bayham and John Daly in Inkster. When she drove past the men, she thought they were throwing rocks at the car. She discovered they were bullets.
As she tried to get away, she blew past a stop sign and was heading for help when she was pulled over by a Dearborn Heights police officer.
During the stop, the officer noticed the car riddled with bullets and the woman shot in the buttocks.
Police believe it was a random act. As for the woman, she is still in the hospital and needs surgery, but is expected to be fine. The children were not injured.
