Retired DPD officer's 2013 Honda Accord stolen from gas station on city's east side

DETROIT (XWXYZ) — Detroit police are looking for a suspect who walked off the street and into a man's car at a gas station on the city's east side Wednesday.

The incident was captured on surveillance video around 8 a.m. in the 7300 block of Kercheval St.

The 73-year-old victim, who is also a retired Detroit police officer, pulled into a Sunoco gas station and exited his vehicle and went inside the location. While inside, video shows a man who was standing on the sidewalk, walk toward the gray 2013 Honda Accord and get in the driver's side and drive away.

Police say the stolen vehicle has license plate number 3LDM44. The retired officer's keys, a weapon and wallet containing miscellaneous items and an undisclosed amount of cash.
