A chance meeting with a stray dog led to heartache and happiness.

A 7 Action News crew recently spotted the female stray dog in southwest Detroit while working on a story.  It was obvious the dog recently had puppies.

The crew tried to lure the mother dog away with food, but she kept running off and a search nearby for the puppies turned up empty.

Mike Diesel with Detroit Youth and Dog Rescue and dog hero Lori Briggs came to the deserted house a few days later with a trap.  Within minutes they were able to catch the female pooch.

Once again, there was no sign of her puppies, until they went inside the dilapidated and dangerous home.
