For longtime residents on Binder Street, Detroit’s fight against blight is real.

Neighbors do what they can to keep it at bay, including maintaining problem properties on the block. Yet one building on the corner of East 8 Mile is too far gone.

After catching fire more than a year ago, the building sat, open to illegal scrappers and tire dumpers and is now beyond repair.

One neighbor tells 7 Action News efforts to get city officials to address the problem have not ended in results, and they are frustrated.

Online records show the property connected to Abdoun Estate Holdings, LLC and Ahmad Abulaban.  When 7 Action News reached out to Abulaban, a man answering the phone said it was the wrong number and hung up.

A spokesperson for Mayor Duggan’s office tells 7 Action News no recent violations have been issued regarding the property, however now that city officials are aware, an inspector will be sent out and steps will be taken to address the issue.
