The Southfield Police Department have released a sketch in hopes the public can identify a home invasion suspect who attacked a man and his wife.

The incident took place on July 29 around 1:15 p.m.

The suspect reportedly forced open a screen door to gain access into the home. The home invader approached the 67-year-old homeowner who was sleeping on the couch and began punching him in the head.

When the homeowner's 74-year-old wife tried to call police, the suspect began assaulting her. He reportedly took her phone and continued to attack her husband, beating him in the face and head with the phone.

The residents did not recognize the suspect and it is not known what the motive was since nothing was taken from the home. The husband was transported to the hospital to be treated for severe bruising and lacerations to his face.

The suspect is described as a black man, medium-light complexion, approximately 15-20 years old, slender build, 5’6 – 5’8”, wearing a red shirt.

If you have any information on this case you're asked to call the Southfield Police Department at 248-796-5500.
