Detectives from the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office are seeking help from the public in a bottle return fraud ring.

Sheriff Tim Donnellon says several men are working together to carry out the return crimes.

In late May, four men were seen going into the Walmart store in Fort Gratiot on at least three different occasions, where they produced bottle return slips totaling over $800, printed on paper very similar to paper used in the Walmart bottle return machines.

The suspects then left in a small black crossover type vehicle. The sheriff says another similar incident occurred at the store in March.

The same men may have also brought in fraudulent bottle return slips to the Walmart store in Chesterfield Township.

Anyone who can identify any of these suspects is asked to contact Detective Eric Stevens at 810-987-1726.
