(WXYZ) — There was an interesting sight on Sunday, which was the result of strong winds and cold weather. The Niagara River Parkway was closed near Mathers Arch because winds kept blowing ice over the Lake Erie retaining wall.
The message to drivers went out Sunday just before 3 p.m. warning of the partial closure on the Niagara Parks Police Service Facebook page. The video showed huge ice chunks overflowing toward the roadway.

Drivers were advised to use caution.
Roaring winds here were already whipping through Ontario yesterday. Ice from Lake Erie was blown over a retaining wall forcing a partial closure of the Niagara River Parkway.
