After a string of thefts in Bloomfield Township, police believe the same suspect is responsible.

At least three catalytic converters were stolen from vehicles parked in the area of Franklin Road in the last few weeks.

The incidents happened at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio, The Franklin Road Church of Christ and at DRYmedic Disaster Restoration Services.

DRYmedic caught the incident on surveillance cameras.

Police describe the suspect at a white man, about 6 feet tall, heavy build and wearing dark clothing. He was driving a silver Dodge Caliber.

At DRYmedic, the crews didn’t realize why their work van sounded so loud when they started it up after the theft.

"The guys were getting ready to head out, they started the vehicle and it sounded like a Harley pulled up in here,” said Benjamin Gergis, an owner of DRYmedic.

Then, they realized foul play was to blame.

"All of a sudden, one of the gals out back said, it sounds like they stole our muffler. Sure enough, the muffler was on the ground dragging and you could see the cut marks under the truck,” said Gergis.

When they went back and looked at their surveillance footage, they spotted the suspect.

"They knew what they were doing, they knew how to get it and they got it,” said Gergis.

If you recognize the suspect, call Bloomfield Township Police at (248) 433-7755.
