DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Michigan State Police are on the scene of a shooting involving an off-duty Detroit police officer.
It happened shortly before 4:00 p.m. at the y-11 on Cherry Hill near Inkster.
MSP says the off-duty officer had stopped at the store when a man entered and tried to rob it. The officers confronted the suspect and then shots were exchanged.
The suspect was wounded in the exchange of gunfire and taken to the hospital in critical condition. He has since undergone surgery and is listed in stable condition.
The officer was not injured.
