Grosse Pointe Shores police say a man is safe after his SUV lost control and crashed into Lake St. Clair on Saturday afternoon.
According to police, the man was driving northbound on lakeshore around 2 p.m. when one of his tires blew out.
He lost control, hit a curb and launched it 20-30 yards into the lake.
Police say he was able to safely get out of the SUV and stand on top of it until the Coast Guard came and rescued him.
He was transported to the hospital in good condition as a precaution.
