TAYLOR, Mich. (WXYZ) — Taylor police were able to gain control of a situation involving a suicidal man with a knife by using de-escalation tactics.

The incident happened Jan. 27. Officers were made aware of a volatile domestic violence situation. A man was inflicting harm to himself using a knife inside his apartment.

The man was cutting himself while asking officers to "shoot him in the head."

In a Facebook post, the department says that officers tried preventing the man from imposing any further harm to himself by deploying a taser.

No one other than the suicidal man was injured, police say.
