Labor Day is coming up Monday, September 3, and while most City of Detroit offices will be closed, a few will be open.
Police, fire, water and sewage services; department of public works; and the department of transportation will provide services on Labor Day this year.
City officials say "normal police, fire, and water and sewage services will provided, although administrative offices will be closed."
The Department of Public Works will collect waste and recycling for Monday, Sept. 3 on Tuesday, Sept. 4. Tuesday's pickup will happen on Wednesday and so forth. The Southfield Yard and J. Fons Transfer Station will be closed on Monday.
The Department of Transportation will buses on a Sunday schedule on Labor Day. The administrative office wil reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
During the Labor Day closing, city residents can use the Improve Detroit app to report issues or file complaints.
