Thieves broke into an Auburn Hills Sunoco and the incident was all caught on camera.
It happened at the Sunoco at in the 2800 block of Auburn Road in the early morning hours of June 18.
In the video, you can very clearly see the two men, dressed in all black and faces mostly covered. They break out the glass in the front door and grab the two cash register boxes.
Danny Yono, the owner of the Sunoco is hopeful the video is clear enough someone will recognize the men. He was taking a Father’s Day trip to see his son in Chicago when the break-in happened.
"I got a call at 6 in the morning, somebody break into the the gas station so I had to come back right away,” said Yono. "That was my Father's Day gift.”
Yono said the registers only had $40 cash inside them, but replacing the boxes, the broken door and the full day he had to close for repairs is costing him thousands. He said it’s a major loss.
"It is, we suffer for that, I don't want anyone to suffer like what happened to me,” said Yono.
The two men broke into the Sunoco after the store was closed early in the morning. No one was injured, because no employees were there, but Auburn Hills Police are taking this crime very seriously.
"Things happen, that's part of the business, but unfortunately we don't want it to be like that. We work hard, we put in too many hours, I'm sure everybody else is working too many hours,” said Yono.
