A Brazen robbery in Oak Park, where a thief, in broad daylight, took a little boy's toys and it’s all caught on camera.
The boy's mother says she wants whoever is responsible to be caught before they strike again.
Cat DeMetsenare filed a police report with the Oak Park Police Department after the incident earlier this week. She's hoping to get her kids' toys back, but they may be long gone.
"The fact that they took kids toys to me is mind-blowing. To me it’s disgusting," DeMetsenare said.
It was Tuesday morning when she was getting ready for work and noticed something unusual.
"In the back of my house there’s a screen to a window and you can tell it was cut. Like you can tell somebody took a razor to it and cut it," DeMetsenare said. "I was just about to leave the house and I said that’s kind of weird, I haven’t noticed that before."
It wasn’t until later that day that DeMetsenare began looking through her home surveillance video from Monday. That's when she saw the unthinkable.
"It was heartbreaking to watch them walk away with his stuff, just absolutely heartbreaking," she said.
Caught clear as day on surveillance video, two suspects were seen taking her 3-year-olds toys from their home garage.
"I eventually saw two guys walking out from behind my driveway with my kid's toys," DeMetsenare said. "His two bikes and our pool that we hadn’t put up yet."
Another incident happened last year when someone stole her boyfriend's rims.
DeMetsenare said she wants to see the thieves caught so they can’t take anything again from a child.
"I don’t want anybody else to fall victim to them, and I want to press as hard of charges as I can because nobody deserves to feel like this," she said.
DeMetsenare says the value of the toys is somewhere around $400. If you have any information on the incident, call Oak Park Police.
