Just over a month after Tom Cruise announced that "Top Gun 2" would be happening, the movie studio has given it a release date.
According to Paramount Studios, the "Top Gun" sequel will premiere on July 12, 2019, 33 years after the original movie came out, Variety reports.
Joseph Kosinski, who directed "TRON: Legacy" and "Oblivion" will direct "Top Gun 2."
Cruise made the announcement on May 23, saying Top Gun 2 is "happening."
