TROY, Mich. (WXYZ) — At 7 pounds and 19.5 inches long, Chloe Jean Catanzaro was the first baby born in the new year at Beaumont Health hospitals.

Catanzaro made her grand entrance at Beaumont Troy at exactly 12:13 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 1. The happy parents, Rachel and Tony Catanaro, are residents of Washington Township. The mother and baby are doing great, a hospital spokeswoman says.

The Beaumont spokeswoman could not confirm if Chloe is the very first baby born in the new year throughout all of metro Detroit.

In Ann Arbor, a baby boy was the first newborn to be delivered in the new year in the Saint Joseph Mercy Health System. Alexander Michael Olbrantz was born at 12:26 a.m. to Northville residents Samantha Holt and Frank Olbrantz.
