President-elect Donald Trump is "seriously considering" Detroit native Dr. Ben Carson to head the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, he announced Tuesday.
Trump called Carson a "greatly talented person who loves people!"
I am seriously considering Dr. Ben Carson as the head of HUD. I've gotten to know him well--he's a greatly talented person who loves people!

Carson previously said he was considering several positions under Trump, but later turned down any role in his administration.
A Carson surrogate said he declined a position because "he has no government experience; he's never run a federal agency. The last thing he would want to do was take a position that could cripple the presidency."
Carson ran against Trump during the Republican primaries but later became a loyal supporter during the general election.
