DETROIT (WXYZ) — Two people were rescued from a house fire on Detroit's east side early Monday morning.
Three-year-old Jayceon and his 27-year-old father Steven Lawrence are currently in critical condition.
Officials say the 3-year-old had burns and smoke inhalation and Lawrence had smoke inhalation. Family members say they both suffered burns.
The fire chief said there was an illegal electrical hook-up in the back of the house. The fire reportedly started in the kitchen.
The family has started a Facebook fundraiser to help pay for needed clothing and housing.
