(WXYZ) — Warren police and the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency announced they've busted an organization of drug dealers operating out of several homes in Detroit and Highland Park.
They were selling heroine, fentanyl and crack cocaine into the suburbs. However, most of the specifics in the case are being withheld because they say the feds are working up the drug supply line.
The authorities say Mound Road running from Detroit to the north was a distribution channel into the northern suburbs in Macomb and Oakland counties.
During a Wednesday press conference, the feds would not allow Warren police to display the drugs, cash and guns they say they seized in a series of pre-dawn raids because they expect federal charges to be issued.
The feds also wouldn't say where the homes are located. They say eight people were arrested – seven men and one woman – and all have past drug rap sheets, and some had outstanding warrants.
They say they seized five guns, $40,000 in cash and large amounts of fentanyl, crack cocaine and a half kilo of heroine worth about $40,000.
The cases were started nine months ago with Warren police working undercover.
The feds say the houses they busted were used for distribution, cutting and stash houses for drugs and cash.
The eight arrested remain in custody in Warren.
