DETROIT (WXYZ) — Wayne State University announced Thursday that it would suspending its spring break study abroad programs for the current semester amid growing concerns over the coronavirus, according to a letter sent to students.

"The coronavirus (COVID-19) has created a great deal of uncertainty and disruption in several countries around the world," the letter reads. "Among the impacts are disruptions to international travel."
As a precaution, the university is suspending spring study abroad programs.
Students that were expected to participate in study abroad will not be impacted financially or academically. The school says it will work with students and faculty to make sure that those students receive full credit for courses they've enrolled in.
"This was a difficult decision, but one made with the best interest, safety and well-being of the students and faculty in mind," the university said in a statement.
