WATERFORD, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 28-year-old woman has passed away after being hit by a vehicle while crossing the street.
Around 4:54 a.m. Thursday, the Waterford Police Department and Waterford Regional Fire Department say they responded to a pedestrian accident on Highland Road near Cass Lake Road.
The 28-year-old female Waterford resident was crossing Highland Road from north to south outside the Cass Lake Road crosswalk.
Police say she was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on Highland. A 26-year-old man was driving the vehicle.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced deceased a short time later, according to police.
Police say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the accident.
