DETROIT (WXYZ) — An eyewitness said tragedy struck Thursday afternoon around 4 p.m. near West Outer Drive and Curtis in Detroit.
A boy between the ages of 8 and 10 was struck by a car that fled the scene after it slammed into the child. Taylor Calvin said she was in her vehicle when she witnessed the horrifying incident.
"I just prayed he was OK," Calvin said.
Calvin added that she and a good Samaritan pulled over and rendered aid to the unconscious child who was bloody and bruised.

She says the boy was only 8-10 years-old and his small body slammed on the hood of the vehicle.

"The light turned green," Calvin said. It gave him [child] the right of way to walk and the blue Ford Fusion flew down the service drive and hit him and he kept going."
She said she transported the child in her personal vehicle to DMC Sinai Grace Hospital.
"His head was bleeding," Calvin said. "I wrapped a scarf around it."
The child was walking home from the Northwest Activity Center when the incident happened.
"It's heartbreaking to see a kid laying there bloody," Calvin said.
