ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- The Detroit Tigers placed shortstop Jose Iglesias on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.
To take Iglesias' spot on the 25-man roster, Detroit recalled right-hander Warwick Saupold from Triple-A Toledo on Friday. Andrew Romine made his ninth start at shortstop on Friday against the Rangers.
Iglesias' injury occurred while he was running the bases on Wednesday at Seattle. He is batting .249 with one home run and 19 RBIs in 99 games.
Saupold, a 26-year-old Australian, made his major league debut earlier this season and is 1-1 with a 10.80 ERA in five relief appearances for the Tigers. He is 5-2 with a 2.88 ERA in 14 games, including nine starts, for Toledo.
