DETROIT (WXYZ) -- After a trip to the Bahamas last year, Central Michigan will play a bowl game much closer to home this season, facing Minnesota in the Quick Lane Bowl on December 28.

This is the fifth bowl appearance at Ford Field in ten years for the Chippewas (7-5), who lost to Western Kentucky on the final play of the Bahamas Bowl last season.

Minnesota is one of three 5-7 FBS teams to play in a bowl game this year, along with Nebraska (Foster Farms Bowl) and San Jose State (Cure Bowl).

Central Michigan is one of seven bowl teams representing the Mid-American Conference.
