After a fantastic week, Detroit Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk was named the NHL's First Star of the Week for the week ending on Sunday.

He shared the league lead with five goals last week and was tied for second with seven points in four games. That was good to help the Red Wings to go 3-0-1 this week and help them secure second place in the Atlantic Division.

He scored twice, his first multi-goal game of the season, against the Florida Panthers on Feb. 8, and then collected an assist against Ottawa on Feb. 10.

On Feb. 12 against the Colorado Avalanche, he scored a goal and also netted a shootout goal in the shootout loss before scoring twice in the 6-5 win over the Boston Bruins on Sunday.

Datsyuk, 37, also became the sixth Red Wings player to reach 900 points in his career. His first goal on Sunday helped him reach that milestone, joining Gordie Howe, Steve Yzerman, Alex Delvecchio, Nicklas Lidstrom and Sergei Federov.

New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist and Boston Bruins forward Bard Marchand were named the second and third stars respectively.
