Izzo ready to work, has new excitement on new year

Posted

Tom Izzo has never had a team quite like this.

With four incoming freshman, in what many are calling his best recruiting class ever, the Spartans will need to grow up fast, as inexperience is a term that can be associated with his 22nd team.

"I don't know where we are right now, I do not know," Izzo said. "We're doing some different things with some different people, I do know this, we have a lot of really good parts, and really neat parts, and guys who are on a mission."

The injuries to the front court big men Gavin Schilling and Ben Carter will certainly add depth issues to the list of other concerns that Izzo will have to figure out as the season unfolds.

"This is going to be a year where everybody is going to have to work harder than we ever have," Izzo added.

The Spartans has a special player in freshman Miles Bridges, who is looked at as a player with a chance to be next level, right away.

"He's different, he's got that powerful explosiveness like Jason Richardson, Miles can play both ends, he has a high basketball IQ, he's way better than any of the players I've had with both hands," Izzo added.

The Spartans will travel over 13,600 miles to start the season, with games against Arizona, Duke, and Kentucky all in the mix as this version of MSU basketball starts a new era.
