Leyland previously coached the Detroit Tigers from 2006 to 2013 where he had a 700-597 record and won two American League pennants.
According to Morosi, Leyland will bring on Alan Trammell, Lloyd McClendon, Jeff Jones, Willie Randolph and Marcel Lachermann as assistants for Team USA.
When Morosi asked how Leyland would feel about hearing the national anthem while wearing the Team USA jersey, he got choked up and said, "It's going to be a huge honor."
On what happens if Miguel Cabrera comes up to bat against Team USA, "I already told Miggy I'm going to walk him," Leyland told Morosi.
