Walled Lake Western and West Bloomfield will open the annual Detroit Sports Commission Prep Kickoff Classic at Wayne State's Tom Adams Field.
Walled Lake Western, who finished the season 12-2 and was the division 2 state final runner up, will make their first appearance at the Prep Kickoff Classic.
West Bloomfield finished the season 6-5 and lost to Southfield A&T in the division 1 district championship round. They are 1-0 in the Prep Kickoff Classic, beating Dearborn in 2014.
The game will kickoff at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24.
"We want to take advantage of the opportunity to play at Wayne State," Walled Lake Western Head Coach Mike Zdebski said. "It's a great opportunity to play with some of the best teams in the city of Detroit and the state of Michigan."
Other games have not yet been announced for the 3-day opening to high school football season.
"There's no better way to start football in the state of Michigan," West Bloomfield Head Coach Ron Bellamy said. "It's an honor to play in the Prep Kickoff Classic. There's a lot of teams that are state powers with serious credentials. It means a lot to the kids to play on a college campus.
