Prince Fielder hosting own cooking show on Netflix after retirement

Former Detroit Tigers slugger Prince Fielder announced his retirement from baseball last summer after a second neck surgery, and now, instead of preparing for Spring Training, he's planning on cooking.

In an interview with ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, the 32-year-old said he is launching his own cooking show on Netflix and Hulu in his first venture after retirement.

According to the interview, the show is expected to come out at the beginning of Spring Training in March, and it's not only people in baseball.

"It's a mixture of baseball people, actors, musicians, chefs and whatnot," he said in the interview. "They bring out different dishes, and at the end of the show, I give the one I like the most the 'Fielder's choice.' It's good TV."

Fielder said a friend of his approached him at the end of 2015 and asked what he wanted to do when Fielder retired.

"I said, 'I always wanted to do a food show.' I thought it might be a cool thing to do when I retired a few years later. Then retirement came slightly prematurely," he added

Guests on the show so far include actor Chazz Palminteri, "Feliz Navidad" singer Jose Feliciano, rapper Xzibit and pitcher CC Sabathia, according to Fielder. He said he can't release the other names yet.

Fielder, whose dad Cecil played for the Tigers, spent two years in Detroit in 2012 and 2013, batting .295 with 55 home runs and 214 RBI.
