TROY, Mich. (WXYZ) — It's a developing story involving a popular local fitness center that closed suddenly back in August. The business promised to refund money for customers, now some members say the place still hasn't kept its promise.

Back in mid-August, CYCLEBAR members contacted 7 Action News to complain about not being refunded when it suddenly closed. Two months later, some say refunds are still being denied.

For nearly three years, Scott McMillan says the place was a hot spot for people wanting to get in shape. But when things didn't pan out, 7 Action News called the owner and he hung up.

Fast forward to now, and 7 Action News has learned some people were refunded by corporate while others say they had no such luck.

7 Action News reached back out to corporate Wednesday and are awaiting a response.

A statement from the company is below:

The studio has been transferred to a new franchisee that will be honoring all packages and memberships. The new owner has reached out to the current package and membership holders to let them know that.

With that said, we didn’t know how quickly a knew owner could be found so we sent a note to all active members for a refund. Since the closure the franchisee deactivated all accounts so those that replied to our email were cut checks.

The new franchisee has communicated to all members that he will be honoring theses packages via Instagram and by email.

Please have anyone who has reached out to you directly either contact the studio troy@cyclebar.com or myself directly and we will make sure their package or membership credits are honored or try and make this right for them.

Thank you again for reaching out to us directly.
