DEARBORN, Mich. (WXYZ) — The family of a murdered father and husband from Dearborn is speaking out after his shooting death in Inkster Saturday night.

Right now, the family of Ali Al Tameeemi is dealing with devastating loss. His loved ones say the local mechanic was an inspiration to all who knew him.

At 34-years-old, Tameeemi was a husband and proud father of three young kids. Those who knew him best say the Iraqi American left the country he grew up in four years ago in search of a better and safer life here in Dearborn.

At his son's funeral, Tameeemi's father shared a powerful message translated by Imam Hisham Husseini, a close friend and religious leader.

Tameeemi's life ended tragically Saturday afternoon after police say he was shot multiple times at a Marathon gas station at Harrison and Michigan Avenue in Inkster. State police say he got into an argument with another man over a car in the parking lot, then a fistfight escalated.

Tameeemi, a concealed pistol license holder, lost control of his gun that fell to the ground and his attacker picked it up. Police say they arrested the shooter, but so far it's been little comfort for those grieving the senseless violence.

The Islamic Center is accepting donations to help family with funeral expenses.
