Metro Detroit storms could bring 1-2" of rain per hour, clear your basement

Strong storms across metro Detroit could result in flooding in the area.

Flood watches start to go into effect starting at 2 p.m.

Heavy rains could bring 1" to 2" inches of rain per hour. If you're basement is prone to flooding, you may want to clear it out ahead of storm.

Storms strengthen and could become severe after 6 p.m. and throughout the night.

This weather system could bring heavy rain, hail, lightning, strong wind and there is even a chance for tornadoes.

OUTLOOK:

Today: Storms with some moderate rain are possible in the morning and then storms should take off again late in the day or in the evening. Skies will turn partly sunny and it will be humid. There's a risk for severe weather after about 6 pm and through Wednesday night. Highs: 87-91 / Winds: SW 5-15

Tonight: Thunderstorms likely, some with damaging wind, torrential rains and hail mostly ending by about 2am. A Flood Watch is in effect from 8 pm this evening until 11 am Thursday. Lows: 69-73 / Winds: SW 5-10

Thursday: More clouds than sunshine with a 60% chance for showers and thunderstorms. It will be still be humid. Highs: 81-85 / Winds: SW 5-10
