MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 12-year-old from Muskegon Heights is being rewarded for his pothole work.

WZZM reports that Monte Scott fixed around 30 potholes in his neighborhood using a shovel and dirt from his backyard to even out the road.

"I don't want nobody from out of town to come and say that's a bad community or you shouldn't go there," Scott told WZZM.

He was rewarded for his hard work with a visit from neighbors and the mayor, along with gift cards and presents from all over, including Canada and Florida.

According to WZZM, Scott now wants to get into landscaping and has been gifted yard tools, including a mower, from Lowe's.

His mother posted a video on Facebook of Scott filling up the potholes that went viral, saying her son has a "heart of gold."
