This is the first official week of summer. School has ended for most Michigan students. Families and individuals are now ready for some summertime relaxation and exploration. What better place to do it than our Great Lakes State!

Unlike most states, we have an upper and lower peninsula which are uniquely different. We have famous landmarks, sensational state and national parks, about 12-thousand inland lakes and more miles of coastline than any state but Alaska. We hope you consider all of this when planning your daily or weekly vacations. Tourism is vitally important to the economic health of our state.
