On Sunday, September 4, Spotlight on the News will highlight the Michigan Coalition for Human Rights 2016 Freedom Tour into America's deep south. Twenty-five Detroit high school students and their mentors experienced what it must have been like for civil rights activists in the 1950's and 60's working and protesting in Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi and Tennessee. We'll talk to Royal Oak Attorney Cary McGehee and three of the students who made this eye-opening trip. The tour of historic sights was sponsored in part by WXYZ/Channel 7 and the Scripps Howard Foundation.
Spotlight on the News, Michigan's longest-running weekly news and public affairs program airs every Sunday at 10:00 am on WXYZ-TV/Channel 7.
