For families living in poverty or having trouble making ends meet, providing a Christmas for their kids can be a challenge.

So, for the second year in a row, the Channel 7/TV20 family is donating gifts to help families in need in Detroit.

Our Giving Tree at work is dedicated to helping The Children’s Center, which serves over 7,400 children in Detroit every single year.

Our team members brought in bags of toys and personal items to help make the holiday brighter for Detroit area children.

We packed up our vehicles to the brim and then unloaded the goods downtown.

This week, we’re among more than 30 groups making donations – from churches to schools, businesses to corporate partners.

Volunteers sort all those gifts in The Holiday Shop.

”We invite pre-qualified clients to select gifts free of charge for their family,” says Holly Gorecki.

”Everyone gets stocking stuffers which are organized here. There are boy gifts, teen gifts, toddler gifts,” says Jenny Fruehauf.

Each child gets a toy, a stocking stuffer, and brand new socks and underwear.

It’s truly a one-stop holiday shopping experience.

If you would like to donate to the Children's Center Holiday Shop, you must drop off gifts by Saturday, December 10 at 3 pm.

To coordinate the drop off, please contact Holly Gorecki at the Children's Center at 313-831-5535.
