(WXYZ) — Our veterans and first responders give of themselves without hesitation, often running into danger to save the lives of others, knowing they could very well lose their own.
And despite that sacrifice, what they witness can be heavy to bear.
According to the most recent federal statistics, nearly 20 veterans die by suicide every day, about one and a half times higher than the civilian suicide rate.
But, there's a special place Downriver that's purpose is to help these special people.
